Paul Picot

More than just a great name in watch making, this signature evokes that spirit which prevails in the workshops of Le Noirmont. A keen sense of the aesthetic, a perfect mastery of the watch-making art, a sure and precise touch, an expert eye; all these are part of the secret which explains the originality and perfection of Paul Picot watches. The headquarters of La société des Montres Paul Picot is based in the Noirmont in the Jura region of Switzerland. The watch manufacturing company was founded in 1976 by Mario Boiocchi, at a time of grave crisis in the Swiss watch industry. Born from a desire to safegard the rich watchmaker tradition of Switzerland, highlighting its origins and guaranteeing authentic values. The old watch-making skills were forgotten, skilled craftsmen went largely unrecognized, the enchanting atmosphere of the small wooden workshops was downgraded and obliterated by the onward march of factories. The visionary entrepreneur believed in the necessity to instill fresh energy into the spirit of the watch-making art. He also single-mindedly and successfully created a business to make high quality timepieces combining the purest tradition of the past and the latest techniques. From the outset, the entrepreneur dedicated all his efforts to grand complications. The Paul Picot firm was born as one of the youngest brands in the fine luxury watch-making sector. For Mario Boiocchi, the founder and chairman it was essential to rediscover the craftsmen's company. One among many was called Picot. It designed its own watches, refined them piece by piece, assembled them entirely by hand, colored and engraved the case, then signed them. This is watch-making! It is essential to return to watch and clock design in this spirit, and the Paul Picot company guarantees this philosophy. Thus, whereas overseas competition drove Swiss production to descend to compromise in order to meet the requirements of mass demand, Paul Picot took a completely different path. When the market wanted futuristic designs and advanced electronic technology, Paul Picot stood firm on its convictions and came to the market with fine gold cases and complicated mechanical movements… " I had the impression that, if we failed to react, we could have been accused of denying our help to a world in danger, as everything I had so admired in my younger years was now disappearing!" explains Mr. Boiocchi. Today, The name of Paul Picot evokes a company which has remained true to its principles by creating and manufacturing individual timepieces, of great precision and extreme technical complexity, equipped with high quality mechanical movements housed in elegant cases. The Gentleman, the Atelier and Firshire collections are already part of watch-making history, but the "Technicum" watch remains the true masterpiece…
